A good guess Bruce but it isn't that film. The unanswered film has a lot in common with Cinema Paradiso though.

  • Is 652 from The Bicycle Thieves?
  • Is 652 from The Bicycle Thieves?
It certainly is Bicycle Thieves from 1948. It would appear my clue was helpful then.

  •  C656 C657
Two more film images for one to ponder.
  • 657 Temple of Doom
  • 657 Temple of Doom
Correct with an abridged name of the film provided for Indiana Jones And the Temple of Doom from 1984.

  • 656 is Gun Crazy.  I thought Bonnie and Clyde first, because the actress looks a lot like Faye Dunaway.  Second look says the car is from the late 40s, not 30s.

Is it Inherit The Wind 1960?
Excellent guess based on the clue provided, but sorry to say it isn't that film. The film in question was released in the late 1930s by Warner Bros.
  • Ah, that narrows it down! Looks like Confederate soldiers....so, is it They Won't Forget (1937)?

Yes you have worked it out as C659 is indeed They Won't Forget. An excellent but little known film  today that is well worth seeking out.
This film was based on a real life notorious murder case and lynching. Lana Turner made her feature film debut playing a teenage murder victim.
