A couple of images borrowed from two forum members. The Australian daybill on the left has the For General Exhibition censorship rating printed on the poster, and the one on the right has the rating stamped on the poster.

Frances ( 1982 ). A curious one. The Australian one sheet and the Australian daybill with a mystery black bar appearing at the top of the poster. One wonders why after looking at overseas material it appears there wasn't anything to cover up in this area. All other copies of the daybill that I have located have the same black bar on them.

Hello Television ( 1930 ) is a 20 minute Mack Sennett comedy short. Above is a very rare piece of U.S. film paper showing an image of a television set featured in a film only two years after television sets became became commercially available for sale in the U.S.A.

The Shiralee ( 1957 ). Released in Australia in 1957 there were two different daybills produced for The Shiralee. The daybill above on the left was printed by Chromo Print and the one on the right by Offset Printing Co. Chromo Print in 1957 had taken over from W.E. Smith as MGM Australia's preferred daybill supplier. Offset was also printing daybills, mainly United Artists product, in the late 1950's. I don't know for certain but I would think the Chromo Print version version was printed for the Australian release in 1957 and the Offset version was a second printing.
The ''

The Choirboys ( 1977 ) daybill. ''The Contains Stuff You'll Never See On TV!'' tagline I haven't noticed on any Australian posters previously. One should never say never.

The Invisible Boy ( 1957 ) Australian one sheet. Currently appearing on eBay Australia how rare is this poster?

eBay continues to try to make changes that suit sellers - but I'm not sure. I do about 50-50% selling and buying but will be less reluctant to bid knowing i will be paying what is essentially a buyer's premium.
And they will stick it to the seller by making them use the eBay poster labels (which doesn't seem right to me).

https://pages.ebay.com.au/free-selling-is-coming/?mkevt=1&plmtId=990111702&mesgId=5885929136655525545&mkpid=0&emsid=enull.mmslibHeroCta1.l0c001323-b4c8-3a99-b62b-03a012590db5&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid&bu=43101059750&trkId=0c001323-b4c8-3a99-b62b-03a012590db5&cnvId=58475c44-5dbe-4b18-bc7f-bb7f75243c83&osub=da6d1bc606661bc0867689b2cae98fe8%257E1773663787554EM_T_FREE_MC_T&crd=20260326180000&segname=1773663787554EM_T_FREE_MC_T

I recently purchased yet another large collection of movie posters and lobby cards. When it was all packaged up, the collection weighed over 250kg and there were a lot of oversize items (3 sheets, Linen backed posters, etc etc). The owner of the collection had considered many options for selling the collection including:

1. Selling the better items on eBay individually - he tried that but realized that it was too much work.
2. Sending multiple items to the US for auction.
3 Offering the collection to dealers in Australia.

Like many people who find themselves in this situation, he preferred to sell the complete collection in one hit although he had sold some of the better items privately. In every collection, there is always a large amount of low value items and selling those posters can take years for little return and a lot of work, so the value is usually in the better items.

In the end, the collector decided that he couldn't possibly package and ship 250kg of posters including a lot of linen backed one sheets safely or economically to the US, so he decided to offer it to dealers in Australia. Ultimately, I was the only one who was prepared to pay his asking price. The carrot for me was that there were some posters, press books and lobby cards that I could use for my Hitchcock collection, so I purchased the lot.

It was a mission to get everything back to Qld and it will take months to photograph, list and sell. Much of the collection included posters in poor condition so they will just get boxed up along with the low value items and probably be left in storage or destroyed.

In the last 20 years, I have purchased over 150 collections, including a few that had to be sent by the truckload. It has taken me around Australia and has been a lot of fun. However, recently, I have started to ease up on buying and will be far more selective in the future.

So, for those of you who have large collections of posters in Australia, my question is when age catches up with you, how will you sell your collection? Will your kids take it on? Will you send chunks of your collection to auctions in the US or UK bearing in mind the increasing cost and issues with postage? Will you donate your collection to a museum or archive?

eMoviePoster.com's head photographer, Whitney Yarber, was in a horrendous vehicle accident last week, and it is truly a miracle she survived. Even more amazing, she is on the road to recovery, but she will be out of work for three months.

Normally, that would mean we would never be able to get all the December Major Auction items photographed in time, but fortunately one of our main shipping people USED to do photography for us, so he is able to "fill in" for Whitney until she returns, and our December Major Auction won't be delayed at all.

But that means our shipping department will be "down a man" at the worst possible time (because we have so much to pack and ship after our two major auctions in a single week). All of the other shipping people have volunteered to work overtime, but we still will not be able to get shipping quotes as quickly as we usually do.

Thanks so very much to all of our customers for being understanding of just how difficult a time this is for our packing, invoicing and shipping people, especially because of Whitney's terrible accident (see below), and our employees do a wonderful job (as those of you who have ordered from us before know all too well)!

BUT I WANT TO TELL YOU MORE ABOUT WHITNEY WHO WAS SO BADLY INJURED. Here are two images of her, right after her accident (they are not for the faint of heart):
https://www.emovieposter.com/images/announcements/20221031_emailimage.jpg

As you can see, she suffered major injuries, and she is very lucky to be alive. But as you can also see from the image of her in her wheelchair with her broken leg and damaged arm, she somehow "came out smiling"! That is not surprising for those who know Whitney well, for she has one of the most cheerful dispositions of anyone I have EVER met in my entire life, always cheerful and upbeat, and one of those rare people ALWAYS looking to help others out, even though she has a husband and four young children.

She started here ten years ago, at minimum wage, doing the most basic tasks at first, and through hard work (and her having a very quick mind!) she worked her way up to head photographer.

Now she has had this horrendous accident, but she may make a complete recovery over the next three months. I am keeping her on the payroll throughout that time, and a "GoFundMe" page has been set up to help with her many added expenses during this most trying time.

I rarely ever ask anyone for anything, but would YOU please consider going to https://www.gofundme.com/f/cover-medical-and-day-to-day-expenses and donating any amount (no matter how small) to help with Whitney's expenses?

It is not just the money, but I think it would mean SO much to her if she sees a bunch of people showing "they care", even if they include lots of "little" donations! I already asked my present customers, and around 100 of them contributed. As I said, it can be $5. I just want Whitney to know people care!

And if you are one of the many thousands of people who have complimented us on the quality of our auction images (which unlike so many other auctions show the posters as they REALLY look!), then know that more often than not, it was Whitney who took the image, so here is a way to show her some thanks for that!

And of course I will update all of you on her progress in recovering in a future post. To me it is an outright miracle she survived and if she completely recovers (as it is looking she might well do) that would be an even greater miracle!

And PLEASE, whatever you do, DON'T post on this thread negatively. I am just trying to give a helping hand to someone who could really use it, both financially, and mentally, at a time when she is of course feeling really overwhelmed.

Thanks to anyone who contributes, and I fully understand that most of you won't. It is just the way of the world. But for those of you who do, you will have done something to make the world a little better place!

New regulations are coming in Jan for shipments to the UK that might prevent a lot of dealers selling to customers in the UK. Just curious as to whether any of the dealers or UK collectors on this forum have any thoughts about how it will affect them. These are the new rules ....

From 1 January 2021, the value-added tax (VAT) applicable to
commercial items valued at £15 – £135 entering the UK will now be expanded to
£0 – £135 (inclusive), meaning the £15 lower limit is abolished. The VAT on
these items will also now have to be pre-paid.

If you sell goods to customers in the UK, from January 2021 you'll need to
pre-pay VAT to avoid additional costs. To do this, you'll need to ensure you
have:

a
GB Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number before
     shipping your goods

the
HS Tariff Code required to make a customs declaration and calculate duties
     on an import

the
customs value of goods – needed to make a customs declaration and
     calculate duties on import.

We recommend you
prepare for the application of the VAT scheme to your business by considering
the changes and where appropriate applying for an EORI number
in advance. It can take up to a week to get one, so register early.
