  • HA has some really cool looking 1920's long daybills that just came up on their Sunday auction.
  • Most of the long daybills in the auction were found in a barn in Adelaide. There were multiple copies of some of them in the collection.
  • Hi john, were any significant title found?
  • I think the best was the full colour Jesse James but only two daybills were found and they haven't appeared in a major auction. There were some other nice long daybills but nothing major. Some have been auctioned on HA before.
  • Thanks john
  • I remember them well, and who snaffled the good ones.  ;)

As I remember they had an idea they were worth way more than they actually were, may have even been told that. They consigned the first batch to auction quite sometime ago (IIRC this is perhaps the third lot, either of items that have not sold previously or they had multiples and these are lesser quality ones), after the first auction overall got nothing like their original asking price even before costs and commissions.

The original pics of the posters they were selling were funny, they were taken with the posters lying on the grass and a couple of feet (wearing thongs/jandals/flipflops) standing on the ends to keep them down.
  • There were multiples of more than 10 of some titles so that brings the value down a lot.

Actually they were found in the ceiling of shop in the Main Street of Eudunda in the Barossa Valley, which used to be the old Printing press in the 20's and 30's , and straight across the road is the institute/ town hall where they showed Flicks back then. I gather the daybill's were given to shop to print dates on top of the long daybill's and the ones at auction were spares. there were heaps found including One-Sheets and lobby cards.

  • Not long now for Emovies major auctions. I have a question for Bruce, can we expect any Australian material???
I will have one daybill in Part III (unbacked) that may interest a few of you looking for a "bargain".

I will keep hoping for more daybill consignments down the line!

  • See how we go Bruce!  :)
  • Yup. By the looks of it more and more collectors are happy with recent results..thus choosing to consign with HA.
  • Moon Over Miami, should be interesting - I've seen the 1SH, so very interested to see the Daybill

I've seen the daybill, its nothing like the US one sheet and insert. I'm guessing the daybill is consigned by the eBay seller "Novark".
