Where can I sell my 1960's collection?
I had a theater in the middle 60's. I have 17 posters I would like to sell from that time.
What is the best approach?

You come to a forum of movie poster collectors, it's a good start. As you've posted the list, post prices, otherwise try eBay.
You can consign to Bruce at emovieposter. He will get a better price, but on these posters he will take about 2/3 in consignment fees.
You can try eBay You might get reasonable return, but it is a risky approach with unscrupulous buyers and eBay policy.
You can list prices here and see who might make an offer. We will be very picky on packing and shipping as we have all been burned with damaged posters in the past. I'd suggest you try and get an estimate of value first. Bruce's archive is a good way to start. Pick an average of recent results, taking condition into account. For example, the Flight From Ashiya 1 sheet generally sells for $5-7 I assuming a folded poster in VG-F condition and might be willing to go the $7 if I was interested. I expect you think the collection has a significantly higher value though.
For the vast majority of consignors who have a mixed bag of items, we end up taking around 1/3 of the final selling prices, but because this guy's stuff is worse than average it would likely be a little higher.
And still far under what he would pay at an auction with $19 minimum buyers premiums. But that's a moot point, because they would not accept these (and no other auction would either, if they had to auction them all individually).
And as you said, he likely won't be back. Next stop is probably a bunch of overpriced eBay auctions.

So, I agree that 2/3 commission was too much, but over half is fair.
But you forget that the cheap stuff all put together doesn't even equal one high priced poster, so it ends up averaging 37% commission to us, 63% to the seller, at the prices you put in above.
Here is the math:
Total of your listed prices: $652.00
Commission Total (at our posted rates): $243.88
Consignor Total: $408.12
Buyers premiums: $0
Avg Commission Rate: 37%

I got those prices by going through Bruce's archives, throwing away the outliers and taking a rough average of the rest, weighing toward recent results. It would be the same as I would do if I were serious about these posters.
Next, this would be max bids for multiple listings. I would expect to win many below the max. I would expect to lose some as well, so my total would be well under $400. Note the numbers I picked were historical.
Bruce, thanks for the detailed response. That was most enlightening, and I hadn't considered the price weighing effect.
