  • I'm still catching up on topic from a few posts ago...I'll respond when I have a moment, about to jump on a plane for an overseas holiday. I have thoughts....

Any thoughts on where, apart from Australia and New Zealand that Australian film posters were used in film advertising in other foreign countries?

It is generally known that there were films posters printed in Australia that were minus our censorship ratings to be used as well in New Zealand. You will be surprised to learn that Ausralian printed film posters were also sent to many other countries all around the world as well. I would certainly like to hear your thoughts on where this may have occurred, and in some cases it may still be the case?

Just to clarify, are you talking about Australian posters for Australian movies being used in other countries, or Australian posters for non-Australian movies being used in other countries, or both?

I was referring to Australian film posters printed here for film titles originating from anywhere in the world. You may find the destinations that they were despatched to, to be very unexpected.
  • That's interesting. As you know I get posters sent to me from all over the world, and I can't recall ever getting Australian posters from anywhere except Australia, New Zealand, and one time from South Africa.

    Where are you aware of?

O.k. then I do intend to reveal all the known countries over a period of time that used Australian film posters. First up country is The Netherlands from Europe, with five poster examples following below where their censorship stamp was added, This application is able to be seen on the following five poster images.

Fury Of The Pagans (1960) daybill retitled Toryok Furie Der Barbaren and a one sheet retaining the original title.

Postman's Knock (1962) Australian 3 sheet, one sheet and a daybill, all with The Netherlands censorship rating stamped on them All the three of the posters retaining their original titles.

What is interesting with the five above posters is that they all are versions with the original Australian censorship ratings printed on them.

All of the above five posters were sold on eMoviePoster, com.

More on your mention regarding South Africa soon.
  • A question for Bruce. Are you able to reveal where the above five posters originated from, and the names of any other film titles from the same source?

    Post deleted.
  • At least the original is complete in appearance and not missing paper from mainly the top blank section, but also the three other sides as well that now appear on the Grok altered version that is no longer a long daybill in appearance. What is the motivation with playing around with film poster images these days?

Some added information is that Australian film posters are known to have also been sent to two countries in Asia, one country in Africa, and some other countries in the Oceania region, apart from to New Zealand.
