  • C12 - could that just as easily be in a Westerns Quiz?  is it The Three Amigos (1986)

It is indeed Three Amigos. Your mention of the short lived Western. Quiz which I had high hopes for was sadly only in play for less than a month in September 2015 due to no interest.. I have since on the odd occasion in the past included a western film title in the Classic Films Quiz thread, and I do intend in the future to continue to do this.

    Well observed.
  • A clue for C13 is since a musical.
  • C13 is making me think. Is it Beetlejuice?

  • C13 is making me think. Is it Beetlejuice?
Sorry but not Beetlejuice. Keep thinking though of another modern musical.
  • I was thinking Back to the Future, and googled to check if image comes up which is did...but its a musical now?

Correct for C13. Back To The Future released in 1985,

Adapted to being a stage musical premiering in London in 2020. It has played in Melbourne and Sydney Australia in Melbourn since then.

  • It didn't play in Melbourne, Sydney audiences failed to show up so it closed early before touring, which is a shame because it's a lot of fun. It would have done better if it had opened in Melbourne first.

This subject is interesting because of the crossovers with comedy and other genres like sci fi or horror or westerns. I'll need to pay more attention and think outside the box.

    Peter
  • Thanks Peter for posting and correcting the situation regarding the non appearance of the musical in Melbourne. Unfortunately I gained the incorrect information from a website appearing on Google. Another example of where you cannot believe everything you locate on Google. I should have checked more than one website regarding the Australian playdates.
''Back To The Future: The Musical played its Australian premiere season at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from September 2025 until it closed early on January 25, 2026. Planned seasons for Melbourne and a nation tour were cancelled due to rising operating costs and soft ticket sales"(AussieTheatre.com)
  • Since nobody answered c12, I'll take it.  3 Amigos.  My clue was the fancy Sombrero by the cactus.
  • I ended up flying up to Sydney to see it in the final week.

Correct, but apparently you missed seeing that Peter had answered it correctly on the 30th of May. Good spotting the sombrero though.
  • Oops. Skipped right over it.

  •  C14  C15
Something a little different this time around.
  • C14 - John Landis's Schlock?

Sorry but not correct. It isn't Schlock from 1973, but a good guess nevertheless.
  • I saw that answer and thought, yes, of course…but apparently not.

Is C14 The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981)?

Is C14 The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981)?
Unfortunately it isn't the correct film answer either. Again a good guess though.

A clue for both C14 and C15 is black comedy.

Thanks for having a guess, but not the correct film.

And a good clue it is.  For others, if you ponder it the answer should be forthcoming,

  • Is C14 Where’s Poppa? (1970) - Ruth Gordon is the Harold and Maude connection!

  • Is C14 Where’s Poppa? (1970) - Ruth Gordon is the Harold and Maude connection!

Correct and well worked out. Ruth Gordon seen below with the gorilla in the extended image.

I thought that the following information on Ruth Gordon would be of interest. There was a 1953 MGM film titled The Actress which was based on Ruth Gotdon's autobiographical play Years Ago that dealt with her stage desires at the age of fifteen in 1911. Jean Simmons played Ruth in the film at the age in real life of twenty four.

  • Interesting tidbit!
