I am certain that last image is from Tower of Evil (Horror of Snape Island). I know it was a BEF release but Roadshow must have “borrowed” the image. Here’s a side by side comparison:
Some history behind the Australian release of Tower Of Evil, aka Horror On Snape Island follows below.
Tower Of Evil was classified by the Australian film censor on 1/7/1973, when submitted by MGM / BEF Film Distributors. The running time was 102 minutes.
Tower Of Evil was again classified on 35mm by the Australian film censor on 1/11/1981, when submitted this time by Blake Films Vic Pty.Ltd.. This time the running time was reduced to being only 90 minutes.
Under the alternative title of Horror on Snape Island the film was classified on 35mm on 1/11/1982 by 14th Mandolin. This time the running time was again drastically reduced in it's running time from the original 102 minutes to 84 minutes.
Were both the Blake and 14th Mandolin modified versions, due to the heavy cuts used only for videotape usage onehas to wonder,
As Blake and Roadshow had a long term working association this perhaps would explain the usage of the image thar appears on the on the Roadshow daybill.
