STOLEN.. Great Escape Quad poster.. rolled.

Hey guy's if you could pin this just for a couple of days, so people get to see it..

A Fellow collector has had a Great Escape Quad stolen on route to his house. It is believed to have gone missing in the Amersham area of London.

This poster is rolled which is exceedingly rare for this poster, so if anyone is offered one or see's one for sale do please let me know.

Thank-you.

  • Crap!!. Hope it gets found
  • It's starting to get beyond a joke, I've had stuff myself go missing, and it's crap. Then Chris's, now this, I'm sure there's others....
  • Far out.  This is getting ridiculous now.

Were these higher priced items declared at their full value?

And you say you've had your own stuff go missing?

I was planning on getting some things fixed up later this year, but now I am bit scared they won't make it back to me!

  • Very sorry. Do you know how it was stolen? Gosh...what an awful year.
  • Incidentally, it really p.m off those who always "claim" that insurance is the way to go. To my mind adding the full value to the front sticker to everyone to see adds a huge risk. Im happy to pay my taxes and i have a full tax receipt for each of my posters. But have to say, I have avoided claiming the full value upfront and sought to pay the BOR286 afterwards whenever I could. Life is too short.

I thank my US poster buddy (he knows who he is)

  • I never declare posters at their full value when I send off to get restored. Let everyone know how much value is inside. No way!
  • Sadly not declaring at full value does not guarantee safe arrival either.  Seems it is fast becoming a game of chance :|
  • Well I think some of these restorers should abbreviate their name so Dario's shop goes to Dario's VMA... Lumier Poster Restoration goes to Lumier PR...  etc...

    I agree with this wholeheartedly!

But in Paul's friend's case seems it wasn't coming back from a restorer...
  • My 2 cents

    Declare low value
    Declare as printed adverting paper
    Send express with signature
Attach 2 x from/to address labels with telephone numbers
As Charlie said re restorers or just only use their full name

Of course if someone is in the know at the local post office or courier and they like posters..hard one..except change the courier once burnt..as chris says game of chance but we do what we can to reduce the risk

    How does this help?

Not really for stolen scenario but for lost. Sometimes the customs declaration is the only place where address information is present. Some customs declarations are placed in plastic sleeves which may be removed for customs clearance and may not be placed back in or properly or they come out in the sorting centre etc

In case of the australia post imternational customs label, there is a yellow slip removed for customs clearance. The local post office told me to always add another address label just in case.

I do it out of habit now!!
  • Oh I get ya now...I always put my own label with to and from as well.

I thought you meant do this twice :)

  • Yes, this poster was being sent from an Auction house, "Astons" and was being dropped off at a well know Dealers in London, who is very trustworthy by the way, and it never made it to him..

It certainly puts one off buying any big ticket items, other than in person.
  • Hmmm it's like a black market on posters!  Who would have thought such a thing.

And some would have such a narrow sales market!

Any tracking Paul?  What if anything did that reveal?

  • Yes, there was tracking, which is how they know it went missing at Amersham. After that nothing.

What gets you is, if it's a poster collector that is stealing these, they may just leave it in their collection for years...
  • But it would be so random in terms of what you get in the tube.

It might be a high value poster, but not your cup of tea...so you would think they would shift it for some money to buy something else...or is that just me...not that I would steal a poster, but you get what I mean (I hope).

and yet another sheet inside the package with both destination and return address, along with a manifest.  If the outside gets munged, they still have a way to recover.
  • It is really smart to ALWAYS put a paper with your (and the recipient's) name and address INSIDE every tube and package. I can't tell you how often the Post Office manages to mangle the outside of the tube or package enough to eradicate the addresses, and then they are left with posters and no way to identify them.

How can it possibly hurt to have a "From X to Y" paper inside?

  • Do you put invoices in, Bruce?   I'm not sure I like that as it tips off the thief to how much it's worth. Auction Houses keep doing it with my packages over here...

I know we need an invoice as such, but I'd be happier getting that sent separate.
  • No, we send the invoices separately. We are thinking of going to emailed invoices for everyone, because many people just throw them out, and we could save a forest or two that way!

I already told Angie to not send me the printed ones. I don't keep them and it's a shame you people have to waste a letter for nothing.
