And, what!?! We're B-A-C-K!!! That was...quick. (It just seems that way as I delayed the previous post until I finished my write up on my Something Weird Video adrventure, which I had linked to the page. I've already been working on this one for several weeks.) Truth be told, though, about half of these became mine in a 12 hour period. It is no secret that I am now disabled. I live on a VERY modest income now with very little in the bank to fall back on. There is a saying, "You can't take it with you." There should also be a saying that says "You can't enjoy it if you don't have it." That seemed to have been my mindset during a recent eMovieposter auction. Despite the fact that everything was on linen--there were so many titles I wanted. Things were fairly cheap...until the very end. But... Geez! Dipping into my meager savings was... EXTREMELY STUPID and FOOLISH.
But, it happened. Let's take a look:
PRO BALL CHEERLEADERS:
What the hell is this? I was looking at my eMovie pay & holds, realizing my time was almost up...and I saw this title in there. Zowie! I have ZERO memory of buying this. It is the only thing I "won" the day it was auctioned off, so I can only imagine that it was either a frustration bid OR I was a sucker for this bit of description in the listing: "Note that we haven't auctioned an example of this poster since 2016!" OR BOTH!!!
THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER (International teaser):
I'm already NOT impressed. Who okayed this poster? BUT--it is an EXORCIST sequel (one of the few sequel posters I'll buy). I had to get one. I just hope that the final poster--should there be one--is better than this crap. (Of course, after the god-awful, rip-off, disappointment of HALLOWEEN ENDS--which was co-written and directed by David Gordan Green, the man responsible for co-writing/directing this legacy sequel--my hopes for a decent sequel have already been dashed. I'll still go though...)
HOW TO MURDER A RICH UNCLE (linen):
This isn't the most exciting poster ever...and it could use some color to jazz it up, but the artwork is by Charles Addams (creator of the original Addams Family drawings that led to the TV series and movies). How could I say no? I may already have one--but I'm not sure. I am no fan of linen--but this went cheaply.
I saw this movie ages ago...and unfortunately it was not very good. (At least, I remember thinking it was lame...but have no memory of the film itself.) Although I may have this poster already, I don't recall seeing it in my collection. So, I have been looking to get one--but not in any drastic, I-NEED-IT-NOW kind of way. Why? The cast of course. You've got four horror legends altogether in one flick (and on one poster!); Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and John Carradine. I don't understand why the first three names are above the title and Carradine is below. Even more baffling is the other "star"--Desi Arnaz Jr. Huh!?! Oh well. The movie may not be much, but at least it has a good one sheet.
ALTERED STATES (International style):
How fun to finally have this....although I should have saved the moeny. Oh well. it was one of those days where you bid--hope to win other stuff and why not this, too--can't be present at the end of the auction and... you win only this. Wuh-wuhhh. Oh well. I do dig it and have been casually wanting one for years. (It's way better than the US one sheet.) But--I am poor. I should have saved my cash...
BURIED ALIVE (aka BUIO OMEGA and BEYOND THE DARKNESS):
Zowie! Here is one I totally did NOT expect to get. Yes, it looks like a crappy, low-rent poster. Well, Aquarius Releasing did distribute a lot of amazing sleaze (grindhouse-type stuff), but their motto was obviously keep it cheap. This is the Joe D'Amato flick (not some other BURIED ALIVE) and is pretty sick-yet-cheap Italian trash. I saw it on VHS back in the day as BEYOND THE DARKNESS. This poster isn't super rare--but is uncommon. I've been after one for YEARS, but I never wanted to pay $200 +/- for it.
THE COSMIC MAN (Linen):
I had never heard of this flick until another collector posted an insert for this flick (which I still haven't seen) on a poster website somewhere a few years back. What was this? The image and the obscurity of it (THE COSMIC MAN??? How had I never heard of this? It stars Bruce Bennett, who, under the name of Herman Brix, was one of the original TARZAN's way back in the day...) made me curious. So I became a tad obsessed in trying to get one. Several have either not been nice enough or just plain slipped through my fingers. Despite this being on linen (I'm still NOT a fan...but as I wind down my collecting days, I gotta get what I can get.), I was thrilled to snag one finally!
THE BIRDS (linen):
Aha! This poster has been on my "want list" since I started collecting in the mid/late 1970s. I've bid many times---only to have it stolen away by someone else. I've seen the price rise and rise and rise over the decades, too. I remember seeing one for $50 once in beautiful shape (NOT on linen) years ago, but I just couldn't cough up the cash... STUPID ME! After years and years and years and YEARS of trying, F*#& it! I spent way more money on this than I can afford---and it was only "good to very good" before restoration. I have it now and I am thrilled. Normally I would have thought this would have landed at the end of my current list as the grand prize o' the day. In a way, it is ("LONGEST want list quest"), but in another way... Nah! I love the movie THE BIRDS--which is why I wanted the poster. However the poster itself... doesn't do it for me. I'll hang it (Hello!?! It's THE BIRDS!), but the art/style just isn't my cup o' tea.
ISLE OF THE DEAD (1953 rerelease linen):
Karloff!!!! I am always on the hunt for vintage Boris Karloff posters. I'll never have an original FRANKENSTEIN, and my dream Karloff poster is THE BODY SNATCHER (also soooo hard to get), but I do have a few others I am thrilled to have (BEDLAM, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN rerelease, THE BOOGIE MAN WILL GET YOU, etc.). Of the others that are still somewhat obtainable, ISLE OF THE DEAD has been near the top of my want list. And actually, this rerelease (which has completely different art than the original release one sheet) has always been my preferred choice of the two. Wow! Wow! Wow!
SHE GODS OF SHARK REEF (linen):
Hot damn! While THE BIRDS may have cost more and some of the other posters may be more interesting, it is THIS poster that I am most excited about in this batch. I have been after one for so long---and this would be perfect outside of my soon-to-be-finished basement tiki room/bar. (It's almost done! Whoo hoo!) I had to fight for this one. (And DAMN YOU, Tr723427, whoever you are, for jumping in at the last minute -- again and again and again -- and driving the price up.) I have no money, but I NEEDED this poster. It was awful. I'd be outbid and go to make another bid...and my internet was down or my phone wouldn't connect. UGH! (This happened with another poster that I've long wanted and should have been mine...I couldn't get a connection before it was too late!) But--whoo hoo! Linen or not, it is finally mine! I have a frame for it reserved already. Tiki on!
And that is 10 posters...which is my usial per post and all I have this time. I will add a few more links to my most recent faux movie poster mail art envelopes below. These are my most recent ones. Take a look or don't.
Welcome! Get your tickets and take your seat. The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show is about to begin. I am still disabled and only getting worse…yet, uh, um…I’m spending money on my ADDICTION to posters that I really have NO BUSINESS doing. Why? Because I am STUPID. (But I LOVE staring at them…) Waaaaagh!
Anyway—-my stupidity is your viewing pleasure (or however you want to term it…).
Here we go…
THE LADY IN THE MORGUE (1942 RE-RELEASE):
This isn't something that I'd usually buy. I've never seen this old mystery/whodunit flick. Despite this being a re-release poster (The original, with completely different art, hails from 1938.), I decided to go ahead and buy this 81-year-old gem for several reasons. I like the monster-ish hands reaching in at the couple. I dig the purple/green color scheme. The old school font is awesome...and one of its co-stars is Barbara Pepper, who brilliantly played Mrs. Ziffel (Arnold the pig's "mom") on GREEN ACRES. Ha! The most important reason was the price. I think this was only $20? SOLD!
GREMLINS:
I already have one of these, but stupid me couldn't turn up a bargain priced copy. (UGH! I sooo can NOT afford to do that any more...)
BLOOD CREATURE (Re-release of TERROR IS A MAN):
Recently, my friend Ray Wyland (aka Tiki With Ray), asked to interview me as an “expert” (Uh…) on the BLOOD ISLAND film series for his vlog. (He was approached by a promotor for the Kickstarter campaign trying to revive the series. The campaign ends Nov. 2nd.) Sure, I had seen all of the films (on DVD) and I have all of the one sheets for the series. There are three core movies in the series (BRIDES OF BLOOD, MAD DOCTOR OF BLOOD ISLAND, and BEAST OF BLOOD), all of them star John Ashley (if you know who he was). There is another film that is sort of (maybe) in the series that was produced 9 years before the main trilogy (of which the first one is a completely different story line from the other two and John Ashley plays a different character in BRIDES than he does in the subsequent films) called TERROR IS A MAN. It was later re-released with BLOOD in the title as BLOOD CREATURE. As the dubious “expert” (Ha!) on the series, getting this one sheet was a MUST! I’m actually thrilled.
TARZAN'S MAGIC FOUNTAIN:
Okay, so it's not in as nice of shape as I'd like, but I am still pretty pumped to have scored this vintage TARZAN poster. This film stars Lex Barker, the successor to the loin cloth after Johnny Weismueller "retired" (aka "aged out") from the role. He only played the swinging Lord of the Jungle five times. I have two other one sheets (TARZAN'S PERIL, TARZAN AND THE SHE-DEVIL) with Barker...Now, with this one, I just need two more (TARZAN AND THE SLAVE GIRL. TARZAN'S SAVAGE FURY).
THANKSGIVING:
Gobble! Gobble! I am ever so excited and delighted that my favorite fake trailer from GRINDHOUSE is finally becoming a real movie. Of course I had to snag the poster. However, truth be told, I really do not know how Roth will deliver the goods on the promise of what was in that trailer. The trailer was brilliant and campy. The movie...may get sloppy. I hope he doesn't change it too much.
FRANKENHOOKER:
"Want a date?" FINALLY--after years of searching (I don't think I already have one. Do I?), I have scored the poster for FRANKENHOOKER! Yahoo!
DEEP RED:
Oh my stars! HOW many decades have I been trying to get one of these? It has obviously been handled, but is still in pretty darn good condition. YAHOO!!!!! I already have it in a frame.
THE RAVEN (linen):
Wow! Despite it being yet another freakin’ poster on linen (Grrrr.), zowie! What a thrill to have this fab poster of the fun AIP Poe adaptation with Karloff, Price, and Lorre! Such a classic! How delightful!
THE INVISIBLE MAN'S REVENGE: This was an unexpected surprise! Although it is the last in the series (before Abbott and Costello showed up), I'll still take it. GLADLY! I have the 3-sheet (which is totally different), but prefer one sheets. Unfortunately, it is on linen. But at this stage of the game, I'll never have one if I wait for an unbacked one. (They've all disappeared! Ha!)
ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET THE INVISIBLE MAN (linen):
UGH! More linen…but what a sweet poster? Like INVISIBLE MAN’S REVENGE, you gotta get what you can get. I already have ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE. This is a nicer image than that one. While it is a comedy, it still features a classic Universal “monster”. I shouldn’t have gotten this. There was something that closed just before this one that I really wanted, but missed. There was something else I also really wanted—-which got WAY out of my league quickly. So—in frustration—I bid and bid and bid and….oops! This was mine. But I do really like it.
And that makes 10. This should be my last post of new purchases for a while. I am “wintering” (Ha!) at a friend’s house in California until mid-February. I can’t really have posters coming here. That would be rude and how would I get them home again? But…I’ve always got my eye out. Hmm.
I hope your holidays (if this IS the last one of the year) are merry. Happy Halloween (Just barely made that one. BOO!), Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza, New Year, Fake Jan Day, and anything else I may have forgotten.
Finally— if you’d like a gander at my horror movie poster-themed mail art, the most recent posts are linked below. Thanks for taking a look at today’s poster posting.
Holy haul, masked avenger! I just sacrificed all my recent purchases on a stone altar and cast them into an active volcano. I can't begin to hang with the likes of The invisible man. Egads.
Hi Rick! I’m just now seeing this. Thanks for taking a look—and leaving a note. Happy holidays! (And, if you wait a few more minutes, I’ve got another post for you…should you want to come back.) CHEERS!
Welcome back! I certainly did NOT expect to have any further posts with new purchases this 2023 calendar year, but here we are. Granted, most of these are holdover purchases from my temporary poster-buying insanity in October. I’d expected those to be the foundation for whatever post I kicked off the new year with. But now? I had a few more pick ups… Why hold back? Let’s send 2023 out with a real BANG! Christmas came a little early this year.
Uh oh… The lights are dimming. Take your seats. Let’s see what I have for you this time…
GIRL IN GOLD BOOTS:
Not a great poster, but one I’ve been after for a while. This flick is an exploitationer from legendary B man Ted V. Mikels (CORPSE GRINDERS, ASTRO-ZOMBIES, BLOOD ORGY OF THE SHE-DEVILS, etc.). I saw it years ago. I don’t remember much other than that there is a girl (who wears gold go-go boots) who is a dancer (and maybe sings?) and is somehow involved in the criminal underworld. Like a lot of Mikels’ films…it doesn’t leave an indelible mark. It’s more like a hazy fog. I do remember liking the film okay. One thing I DO recall is that there are fleeting scenes inside of the cool-looking, but long-gone Hollywood nightclub, THE HAUNTED HOUSE (Also seen in IT’S A BIKINI WORLD). I have several posters for Mikels’ films, so…
PINK FLOYD-THE WALL:
This was an awesome movie back in the day (1982…Junior year of high school). Unfortunately I haven’t bothered to track it day for a revisit. Perhaps I should? I’ve been casually looking for the poster since then…and they always seemed to get pricier than I want to pay. Then this one popped up. It’s a tri-folded poster that’s had some wrinkling at the top. Framing should cover it (or most of it), if I ever were to frame it. But those folds and few wrinkles helped me score this one relatively cheaply. Hooray!
TRESPASSERS:
Another fairly cheap one. I’d never seen this poster before or even heard of the flick. It’s clearly a horror flick and, I’m guessing, it had a limited release—making the poster a bit on the rare side. Perhaps that’s why it (thankfully) did not get a lot of interest at auction—and became mine! Yippie! (Or maybe the movie just sucks…)
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER (French):
I’ve really backed away from foreign posters over the last several year. However, I have always found this French NIGHTMARE sequel poster fun…and it went fairly inexpensively. Zowie! It’s a nightmare, er… dream come true.
THE UNEARTHLY:
I already scored one of these several years ago. However, vertical fold had almost completely split . Ugh… No thanks. But I hung on to it, hoping to score a replacement at a decent price. This is it. And I believe I got it for less than I got that first one several years ago. Yowza! This is a crap film, but hello? John Carradine, Allison Hayes, and Tor Johnson? Yes, please!
DEAD ALIVE:
I could have sworn, sworn, SWORN I had one of these (and I just might…). However, when I saw this at auction, I looked though my blog. Nope. No sign of one. That doesn’t mean I didn’t have one BEFORE I started blogging, but…just in case….I got this one. Again—it wasn’t all that expensive. Hooray! Lucky me!
ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. (Re-released as CAVE MAN) and BLONDE SAVAGE (double bill):
Zowie! Is this a find? I’m not sure—but I am delighted with it. This is an eBay find of the 1957 re-release of the original Victor Mature prehistoric drama (whose 60s remake would put Raquel Welch and her fur bikini on the map). Oddly (or maybe not so—lots of films were reissued under different names to score a bit more cash) it was called CAVE MAN. It was co-billed with something called BLONDE SAVAGE…but, of course, I wanted it for the dinosaur action. I looked it up on eMovie. They had a poor condition one sheet about 8 years ago that didn’t sell for much…and then a partial 3-sheet. (There was also a press kit.) That was it. I looked at Heritage. I didn’t find ay listing for it at all. Despite the poster being for a re-release (and retitled to boot), there don’t appear to be many of these around. So…yippie for me!
BEETLEJUICE:
I have…er, had one of these. When I finally got around (long after owning it) to opening it up to frame (It hadn’t seen the light of day since I’d purchased it.), I was horrified to discover that the poster was ripped and missing its lower third! UGH! That started the several years long search for a replacement. Yahoo! I got this one—-complete and whole.
DEVIL BAT’S DAUGHTER:
Here’s a curiosity… I had never heard of DEVIL BAT’S DAUGHTER before. Looking it up, I see that it is a loose sequel to Bela Lugosi’s DEVIL BAT (the main character is his daughter—but Bela is nowhere to be seen). However, it is apparently NOT a horror movie (although it was clearly marketed as if it were one. Hello? “Blood red lips…hungry for love but cursed by the brand of the vampires!” WOWser!). Despite the poster having issues, I got it at a decent enough price…and it does seem to be a rather obscure title. Why not?
THE LAND UNKNOWN (linen):
And here we are…back with the dinosaurs! What a fantastic and colorful poster for a cheesy and black & white movie. I wish it weren’t on linen, but as I said before—at this stage of the game, I have to get what I can find. I have been after one of these for a long, long time…
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my 10 for this post. This really, REALLY should be my last post of new purchases for the year as I am still crashing, er…uh… “wintering” with a friend in California. I don’t go home until mid-February. While some posters are heading this way now (How will I explain them? Uh…), I just canNOT overwhelm his mailbox with my crap, er, uh…artful treasures!
Thanks for stopping by for this unexpected showing. Happy holidays!
Okay, so I'm like a month late chiming in on this one, but gee whiz, there's some neato stuff in there. Land Unknown? Devil Bat's Daughter (super awesome title), a sprinkling of Blonde Savage with a side of Allison Hayes? Yowza! Great scores! Pink Floyd was a bit of a surprise from you. A bit atypical, I suppose, but cool nonetheless. And a Ted V poster? Where's Ari when you need him??
RICK: I am just now seeing your note. THANK YOU for the kind response.
ROCKABILLY777: Oh my stars! You knew Ari? WHERE did he ever disappear to? He was a really great guy. I gifted him with an ASTRO-ZOMBIES poster (re-release version, I think)…and then he sort of disappeared. Glad you liked the post and most of the posters. Yes, THE WALL is a bit outside of my usual offerings. As I said I liked the movie back in 1982, but haven’t been desperately trying to get one since then. I finally did get one and… I had actually already forgotten about it already (until you mentioned it. Ha!) Happy holidays! I hope yours are swell. CHEERS!
Yeah, my memory sucks, so I don't recall much about being a member of MOPO ages and ages ago and whether Ari was a member there (he probably was), but it seems like I got one or two computer virus worm thingys from MOPO, so I bailed out. Sometime around then Jon Warren started his I Collect Movie Posters forum and I joined that one. I'm sure at some point Ari was a very active member of that one, because when it finally burned down, he and Uncle Phil created Not Suitable For General Exhibition, and I got to know Ari pretty well during those years. NSFGE still exists more or less dormant out there in the interwebs, but I think it only receives a couple posts a year. I know Ari was (is?) also a member of APF, but I am not, so I don't know if he's still active there. Hopefully he has become a successful film writer and director and in his spare time, founded a reggae punk band that dresses quite dashingly. Ari is definitely good people.
Oh, hi there. You caught me. I was supposed to be away visiting California until February 17th. However, I had to come back home for something unexpectedly. I'll be here another 2 weeks before I head back to California to finish out my planned visit. Boring stuff, I know. But, since you ARE here... I guess I could show you what I have added to my collection since we were last together several months ago. I have to be quick though as I only have a little time here. Ohhh! There go the lights. Take a seat. The show is beinging...
DYNASTY (3D):
The poster shown below is not mine. I couldn't go back and save the image as it has been months since I got this. (The actual poster is back in Californioa at a friend's house.) I already have one of these, but stupid me can't resist a fimmick (in this case 3D) and a sale. (I scooped this up super cheaply!)
Andy Warhol's FRANKENSTEIN (3D):
I have always thought this original release poster for Andy Warhol's FRANKENSTEIN was yawn-inducing. The 80s re-release version was much better. I already have an original release version--why by another? This version shows it is in 3D (gimmick) whereas most of the others do not. Sold!
CANNIBAL GIRLS:
Believe it or not, but I have never seen CANNIBAL GIRLS (which has the warning bells gimmick). (I do have the DVD somewhere but have never gotten around to giving it a watch...) I have the poster...but something funky weird happened to it and I needed a replacement. Voila!
THIRST:
I saw this flick years ago. I didn't particularly like it as I recall. I don't remember much about it other than vampires (or vampire-like people) were using humand as blood cattle. I remember one aspect of it was a grovery store was selling cartons of milk...but it was really blood! I had never seen a poster for it before though. When I stumbled on this one, I thought why not?
THX 1138:
Although I have not seen this flick in years, I am surprised it has sort of disappeared and isn't a bigger cult hit. I mean, it stars Roberty Duvall and Donald Pleasance and was the first film (?) of George Lucas. Besides, it is very interesting to boot. (It's also the namesake for theater sound systems!) Or maybe mt memory of it is being kinder than it deserves? I have been passively after one for years--not seeking one out, but trying for one when they came up. I am glad to finally one.
Oooooo HOORAY on this! WOW! I am thrilled, although no one else will be. I first heard of these flicks as a double feature from (I believe) Something Weird Video ages ago. Who knew that this low-bufget 60's regional rarities actually played together back in the day...and had a one sheet!?! I was thrilled when I found out about it and have been after one ever since. THIS IS HORROR!
THE MONSTER OF PIEDRAS BLANCAS and OKEFENOKEE (combo):
Although NO ONE cares about the OKEFENOKEE part, I have been after a copy of the poster for THE MONSTER OF PIEDRAS BLANCAS for years! It's an AWFUL movie, but that blurb about it being the Famous Monsters Shock Award winner has had it in my sites forever. There is nothing in the real Piedras Blancas except a lighthouse. There is no town as depicted in the film. (Yes, as crappy as the film is, I actually went there and looked!)
KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (International advance):
For some reason, the prices for the US releases for these is already ridiculous, so I am fine with a cheaper International release poster. I'm thinking the movie is going to probabaly suck anyone. (The last one did nothing for me at all...) Normally I don't bother with sequels, but there are some film series that I will; James Bond, some of the bigger horror franchises, and the Apes films. I loved the original ones. The new ones... I'll go see them, but they're just not the same.
WONKA (Final):
The original WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is one of my all-time favorites. (And, Mr. Wonka, the slot machine version, has been very good to me time and time again.) The Tim Burton/Johnny Depp version was interesting...but weird and too CGI. Promising to be a pre-quel of sorts to the Gene Wilder version got me excited for this one. (I even went to IHOP to try their WONKA food items! Ha!) While the actual film fell short of meeting my everlasting expectations, there was enough I did like about it to prompt me buying this final WONKA poster (awkwardly photoshopped legs and all).
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL:
Oh my stars! I still canNOT believe this is mine. Original Universal horror, the original KING KONG, and, in the last few years, the original GODZILLA and PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE have all gone so far up in value I'll never own one. Of the holy grails I could still acquire (although still terribly expensive), this Reynold Brown beauty--and the only William Castle shocker I didn't have a one sheet for -- has been my top prioroty. I have been outbid time and time again. Not any more. This one has some issues--but that may have helped me land it finally. After I am home officially in mid-February and this arrives, it will be framed and hung as soon as it arrives. Wow. Just wow!
And that makes ten. I hope you didn't mind the hastily, slapped together, no-frills show. I wasn't expecting to be posting anything for quite a while more. But now that I've shared all of my new goodies, who knows when I'll be back?

OOPS! HOW did Part 2 get on there TWICE!?! ARGH! How can I remove it? Thanks for the congrats... MOST of those I got far cheaper than you think. Waiting to see your next haul. CHEERS!
Hi there! Yes, I am B-A-C-K! And I’ve been bad… I’m NOT even back home yet (I’m still visiting in California until next Saturday.), and yet here I am with another Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. Oh my…
(Uh, in my defense, I do have to point out what will become obvious as we work through these, that they are far (FAR) from being some of the more interesting posters I’ve scored of late. In fact, as you’ll see, these are certainly very bottom tier posters (and were CHEAP). However, I was thrilled to get them (lover of trash flicks that I am). But let’s not dilly dally. I need to get to bed at some time tonight…and the lights are dimming. Quick! Grab a seat. The show is about to begin…
FIVE MILLION YEARS TO EARTH:
I have one of these already (otherwise it would be further down the list). Why get another? At the moment, I do not recall the particulars, but I do recall my copy had issues that I was not fond of. A replacement was needed and it didn’t take me nearly five million years to find another. On the contrary. It took hardly any time at all.
THOR THE CONQUEROR:
I am reasonably sure I have this Italian CONAN THE BARBARIAN ripoff already. It was cheap and I as trying to get another poster from the dealer. To make postage cheaper, I thought I’d go for it. I lost the other poster but ended up with this and the one below. Isn’t that always the way? Ha! No big deal. I dig my ripoff trash flicks.
THE FINAL TERROR:
Here’s the other poster I won but didn’t need. Like the THOR one, it was cheap. I’ve never seen the flick—and heard it wasn’t all that great. But look at that interesting cast! Rachel Ward, Adrian Zmed, Daryl Hannah, Joe Pantoliano, etc. Ha! I’ve seen the poster a zillion times. It’s not bad—I’ve just never had an interest in getting it.
THE FIRST OMEN (Advance):
Okay. Laugh away. I am rather bemused by this poster for a new prequel (!?!) to THE OMEN. I believe this is an advance. Hopefully there will be a final poster with more interesting art. I’m a sucker. I’ll go see it — and I’ll expect it to be awful. I’ve seen all of the OMEN movies (including the pointless remake) and the short-lived TV series, DAMIAN (which I actually liked). I’ll gladly see this too. But a prequel set in modern times?? Uh…that won’t work, I don’t think, in the context of what the film series has presented so far. We will see…
THEBEES (International):
Here is one I have been passively after for a long while. It’s the international poster for THE SWARM ripoff, THE BEES. Unfortunately for THE BEES, Irwin Allen’s big budget insect disaster flick had no sting at the box office and was a huge flop-o-rama. THE BEES kind of disappeared in its wake. The US one sheet is lame—-sort of a close up of a bee’s face. This one has laughably bad art (To me, it looks like some kid in middle school drew it.), but that’s also why I’ve wanted this version.
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (30th re-release):
Did I need this? No. But I liked the colors, I liked the artwork, and I like the film. It was also cheap. (I had NO IDEA, by the way, that the movie had recently been re-released. Such is the sheltered life I lead on my island in the cold Pacific Northwest.
LISA FRANKENSTEIN (Advance):
This hasn’t come out yet, but I am not expecting to like it. I liked the poster. It was cheap. I’m not gonna bother with the final release version. I may not even see the movie. I know, I know… It’s by Diablo Cody, who wrote and won an Oscar for JUNO. I get it. However, JUNO is precisely WHY I may pass on this flick altogether. Yes, JUNO was funny. But Oscar worthy? I wasn’t that big of a fan of JUNO because every character (the teens and the adults, even the older adults) all sounded like the SAME person. They all had the same exact snarky wit about them. To me, that got tiresome after the first half hour or so. I hope that LISA FRANKENSTEIN does not fall into the same trap. But then again, as I said, I probably won’t bother.
DON’T RING THE DOORBELL (aka THE MAFU CAGE re-titled re-release):
Ha! How utterly excited I was when I came across this poster. It’s a retitled rerelease of the odd Carol Kane/Lee Grant flick THE MAFU CAGE. While I am sure I have a copy of THE MAFU CAGE poster (However, I do NOT see one in my poster blog. Perhaps I got one before starting it?), I wanted this poster because it just makes the film look more cheesy and more exploitative than it is. DON’T RING THE DOORBELL. Ha! Hilarious title and I love the font. This movie seemed to show up all of the time in my town under the original title, under this title, and once under the name MY SISTER MY LOVE. (Is there a one sheet for that? I’d love to track it down.)
THANKSGIVING (final):
Whoo hoo!! Although I got the advance one sheet for this 80s holiday slasher throwback, I was thrilled that there was a final release version, too. I honestly did not expect one. I enjoyed the flick for what it was. It was NOT as good as the fake trailer it sprang from, but it was still a nice attempt at making an 80s slasher-style flick based around a holiday.
MALIBU HORROR STORY:
I had never heard of this flick—and it only came out last fall. Did it play all over or just in a few venues? I came across the poster and snatched it up. I actually bought two copies—all the seller had. I was just so intrigued by the image. Unfortunately the posters got a bit damaged in shipping. (GRRR.) However, I kept them as I have not been able to find any other copies anywhere. Most curious. Still, it is an interesting image…
And… that’s my ten for this time. Now to get back home to Washington so I can deal with them all… Ha!
Stay groovy.
(Poster) Addictedly yours…
Cheers!

And that is 10 posters...which is my usial per post and all I have this time. I will add a few more links to my most recent faux movie poster mail art envelopes below. These are my most recent ones. Take a look or don't.

And now I am going to lick my wounds and tally up the financial ruin I've left myself in. UGH!
Thank you for visiting.
CHEERS!

The third (and final—for now) post is HERE.
See ya next time…

I have several posters for Mikels’ films, so…
THE UNEARTHLY:
I already scored one of these several years ago. However, vertical fold had almost completely split . Ugh… No thanks. But I hung on to it, hoping to score a replacement at a decent price. This is it. And I believe I got it for less than I got that first one several years ago. Yowza! This is a crap film, but hello? John Carradine, Allison Hayes, and Tor Johnson? Yes, please!
Great haul once again!
Ha!)
Happy holidays! I hope yours are swell.
CHEERS!
Voila!
DEATH CURSE OF TARTU and STING OF DEATH (combo):
DEATH CURSE OF TARTU and STING OF DEATH (combo):
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (30th re-release):
Did I need this? No. But I liked the colors, I liked the artwork, and I like the film. It was also cheap. (I had NO IDEA, by the way, that the movie had recently been re-released. Such is the sheltered life I lead on my island in the cold Pacific Northwest.
