Fine where I am. We were able to play golf the last two days... The course runs through the same neighborhood where 100 or so of my neighbors got flooded. Actually played with three guys that were flooded. One had flood insurance and one didn't... There are still neighborhoods near the resivoir that are flooded.
The percentage shows the likelihood of rainfall in that location during the period, which may be a full day or three hours. For example, if the chance of rain for Mildura is 30%, there is about a one in three chance of getting wet. A 30% chance of rainfall also means a 70% chance of not receiving any rainfall at all.
Just checked the weather in Melbourne. Saw cloudy & mid 50's, nice. Here in the full sun, in Arizona we'll double that getting above 110! Yesterday was 116-118!

...and that was Winter Solstice over and done with, now begins the run down to Spring. Been a very mild winter thus far, has it been cooler than normal north of the border up there?
Never have I heard our conservative Bureau of Meteorology say that we may get over 300mm in parts of Victoria and New South Wales. The weather forums have talking this up for days now. Only now does the Bureau get on board.

A little less spectacular...here in AZ from my backyard...
Winter is definitely going to suck...
Mind you, a former neighbour of mine in Sydney had big-ass hail come down on the week-end, being ever resourceful he put it to good use...
I love Melbourne weather. Could do with a few more storm days though.
The Bureau's forecasting 100% chance of rain. They hardly ever forecast that percentage.
With 20 to 45mm of rain.
