One you don't see often. It is hard to read but it is billed as introducing George Dolenz who was the father of Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees fame.

Bought this poster many years ago sight unseen and wasn't impressed when I saw it for the first time but it kinda grows on you.

I had quite the opposite reaction to be honest.  I have always found the artwork very striking!
  • Well we both have a good poster which you don't see around very often. Was released as Your Witness in the U.K.

Hmmm, I wonder if Craig or Rick has that one?
  • Rick too?  I thought it was just Craig!  Bidding war
  • Rick?

    That's John Wayne not Elvis...
  • Great - love it.

He went to Canada and picked up a bug didn't he?
  • Sure did...some long name thing that means a partially collapsed lung. Finally breathing properly!
Elvis and Clint are in front of the Duke for me, but I have a nice collection of his posters. Not that one though!
  • Hawaiian Nights ( aka Down To Their Last Yacht ) ( 1934) is a beauty.

I don't have much to add as I have not done all that much research on it.  It is clearly a re-release as you state.  Bruce (and Heritage) originally had it listed as "40s release" but Bruce later refined this to being an R1952 based on an e-mail from a "knowledgeable collector".

It's an oddity being a Warner Bros. but printed in the RKO/Simmons format...

You have any more information on it?

I just read Bruce's comment and he doesn't appear to say the collector said it was a 1952 RR. I think Bruce has based the 1952 as being the year as there was  a U.S.re- release in that year. I have researched the film and I believe it is from an Australian 1954 re-release from what I have turned up.

Chris talking about his High Sierra RR daybill.

There is a Australian full colour daybill of Key Largo, and the only one around to my knowledge, that was printed by Simmons also.
I am not claiming it is but I am thinking it could be an early 1950's re-release and not original as always claimed. Now I have stirred up a hornets' nest.
Remember I never said it was.

  • Discovered this one on the net. I thought I would share it with anyone who may have not seen it. Fred Powis artwork too. Fred did the artwork on the Trader Horn Australian one sheet much discussed recently along with two very nice looking daybills being The Cossacks and Sioux Blood. I am a fan of his style.

  • Great poster, sexy design.
  • Image of which I can't see!  But I love the Cossacks so, I am sure it is stunning!
