North by Northwest

I'm in Victoria at the moment picking up some posters and went to the stage play of North by Northwest on Saturday night. I have always loved the film and couldn't imagine how they would be able to adapt it to the stage. Well, it was a brilliant production with some great comic touches that I'm sure Hitchcock would have appreciated. For those of you who are in Melbourne, I highly recommend it.

We did notice a white car following us most of the way to Shepparton but I think we lost it at the pass.

You should stop by for a coffee so I can lighten your load before you head back to Queensland  :D

You have my address right... ;)

  • Awesome John! It's one of my favorite films and do hope it goes national! I've not seen too many theatre productions in my time--Les Mis, Cabaret, and Phantom---but did see a production of All My Sons and it did a good job of sticking to the movie.

Ahh the barn find was in Shepparton was it? Ironically I lived there for 10 years. Any Hitchcock or uni horror titles in the find John?

No, it wasn't Shepparton but not that far from there. We did a lot of driving around Victoria and actually stayed in Bendigo for a few days to see the Australian Snooker Championships. I will be going through the collection over the next few weeks. There is a range of posters from 3 sheets to lobby cards, some in pretty bad shape but an interesting mix. Unfortunately, no Universal horror or Hitchcock.
  • Any RKO?
  • Oh yeah, that's alright. I'm looking forward to see what's in the find. Hopefully there is something of interest for me.. :)
  • Hey John,

Was this the production you saw?  saw it advertised on the telly last night and am thinking of going on your recommendation.

    Hubby won't be happy :)

  • That's it! Highly recommended. A very clever production. Have a look at the videos on that link for a sneak preview. Maybe I might go again!
  • Excellent...just bought my tickets!

    Can't wait now!

Maybe we should make it a VMPF catch up! :)

  • Might take my wife to that myself, she likes the movie.
  • Hehe...I just rang my sister to see if they wanted to come.

She said which one is that?  I said, you don't know North by Northwest by Hitchcock?

Her reply "Is that the one in the court room?"

Sheesh, sometimes I swear I must be adopted...

  •
