Downsizing

After 12 months of discussions we have finally decided to downsize, rejig our lives and the pace we do it at - so we're moving house.

So little wall space in the new house, gawd knows where all these posters are going to go...

  • This is my greatest fear...while with a young family it will hopefully be many moons before we have to think about moving to a smaller place, it pains me to think of less wall space.

Good luck!  Oh and you know where to send the aussie goodness I love so much should you be unable to make room for them.
  • Well congratulations! Does that mean less time to maintain the new house and free up more of your time ? Maybe the forum members can "help" you with any excess posters or heralds!  =)

First thing that goes is the lawn mower, hedge clippers and weed wacker...that's my week-ends back.

Wow, so many helpful members :pensive: I am feeling the love

Good news, I found a spot...

  • Yes, we do it out of love...that's right...
  • Down-size... Crikey, when the Kids left we thought about it for half-a-second, and said No. I have my weekends free as we have a Gardener.  We like the house too much to move, but then again you have much more space in Oz, so I'll bet when you down-size it will still be bigger then Waines Manor.

Good luck with the move, it can be a nightmare for a collector. Another reason I wouldn't do it again.
  • Moving to... any suburb in mind?
  • I've had a really lovely one in mind, but the house we're moving to is not in that suburb...

Thanks, going to be a shock to the system I can tell you.
  • Good luck David. We moved in Dec & downsized as well, two-one story. It was 4-5 months in the planning & cleaning. While we did lose wall space for sure; as an early/low inventory collector it wasn't too hard. It is SO much work, but in the end, it'll be worth it!
  • In all seriousness, if you've been there a while, purge excess everything now...don't pack it, sell it, donate it, whatever...don't take it with you.  And I don't mean just the posters...biggest mistake made I think is the "Oh I'll deal with it in the new place..."  nup, gets shoved in a box, in the garage or somewhere and your kids are wondering WTF you kept this crap for when you kark it and they have to sort through the crap.

Agreed!! :plus_one: I'm still going through boxes in the garage wondering why I didn't throw out/donate when I had the chance! :grimacing:

    That's good advice!
