John's Shed find - the Aussie One Sheets

I must say, John's shed find of posters has given me a new appreciation for the aussie one sheet.

As a daybill girl primarily (and especially the long daybill) it has been great to see so many posters I've never seen before with such wonderful artwork, that I am actually interested in.

I know I have acquired a few - my poor bank account -  and many for films I have never seen purely on the basis of the artwork...I find it akin to my introduction to the Richardson Studio daybills...it's been wonderful, and almost like re-discovering the hobby.

Anyone else find it to be the same?

  • Agree and I think I've brought more one sheets this year than daybills.
  • Its been great to see these continually get added to the shop and see some wonderful artwork

     Many more to come john?
  • Thanks Vesna. It really has been a lot of fun going through them all. I first heard about the collection a couple of years ago. At first I wasn't allowed to see everything and just picked up small amounts of one sheets and daybills occasionally but there always seemed to be more when I went back. I finally went to Melbourne a month or so ago and collected the balance of the collection. I was a bit wary of the condition of some of them at first but then thought that so many of them had never been seen before that it was just good to get them in whatever condition they were in.

David has also found some very rare posters that I hadn't seen before so its good that these collections are surfacing.
