So I want to build a vacuum table for photographing posters...

After I finish my kitchen and backing Matt't posters, I am going to build a vacuum table. It is pretty simple. All you have to do is create a channelized under carriage and I have ideas on how to divide it with valves to switch from one poster size to the next....

Anyone ever set one up?

  • What kind of camera do you use?
  • I am still sporting an early Digital SLR Canon Rebel xti that I've have for about 7 years... It's time to upgrade, but it's a great camera. I am still using lenses from pre-digital that I had for my 35mm Canon...
  • What lens do you usually use to take a photo of a one sheet?
  • Just a standard 24-70mm with auto focus. It's a Canon lens... I actually haven't used my 300mm lens in years - I'm not exactly sure where it is...
  • Man I am not even sure on those mm... It's been so long, I'll have to double check.
  • It may be 18 to 55... I didn't buy lenses, just the body...
  • I image it would be noisey?

I fix my focus for shooting posters.
  • I do that when I am shoot a bunch of posters... I get it focuses and then turn auto off...

  • Metal notice board, rare earth magnets, I can put up one poster then shoot and remove in about 15 seconds.
  • Are those brollies to keep the rain off the lamps... You should use one on the camera too.
  • I am also thinking about using a different lighting system and making it more of a shadow box with the lights at 90 degree to the poster.
