Great poster - just wondering if anyone knows anything about it!

Hi everyone!

Picked this up a while ago and thought I'd share it with you all. Can't tell you much about it; I was wondering if anyone has seen one before / knows anything about it?

  • Just realized I've parked this in completely the wrong thread! Can someone please move it to research? Thanks!

Has to be at the earliest 1969 printed due to the printer being M.A.P.S., but most likely 1970s. Printed for Cemp-Regent to it appears push and promote their product at these type of screenings. Cemp-Regent, Cemp and Regent specialiased in importing  into Australia horror, exploitation and sexploitation films which would have been the main staple of product screened at midnight til dawn screenings at drive-in venues. A couple of examples of this the type of film that would have been pushed to be part of these overnight screenings appear below.

  • Hunting around on Trove shows a few listings in the late 1970s / early 1980s for Dusk til Dawn marathons. I think the MAPS logo is the post 1975 one.

Yes it certainly appears that the MAPS logo is a post 1975 used one.

There are many examples of programme listings as Panco mentioned. As well as Cemp-Regent who organised the poster to use for there own product the poster surely was used by other distributors such as United Artists ( including a all James Bond programme )  and Roadshow who also screened product at Dusk Til Dawn screenings.

I think we can safely say the poster is from the later part of the 1970s.

Following is a trade advertisement from January 27 1980 where all the five movies advertised originated from Cemp-Regent or Regent Trading Enterprises. There were other screenings from these distributors located as well.

  • Its awesome. That's all I can say!
