Earliest Australian lobbies

Picked up these c1931 Aussie cards recently. Hand-tinted photographic images, rather than litho print. Has anyone seen any earlier Australian lobbies?

  • I am wondering if the cards are Australian printed cards? My thinking is that the cards are of British origin and I base this on the following. The cards have the U.K. film distributor British International Pictures logo printed on a number of the cards.

Both of the films were released in Australia by Union Theatres Feature Exchange who distributed BIP product in Australia at this period of time. So were the cards imported from the U.K in these hand tinted versions or hand tinted later in Australia?  Nice cards by the way..

Let's Love has "Australia's Favourite Funsters" written in the inserted panel, so you would think that was done locally.
I asked Phil and he told me he had some similar Dad & Dave cards. The stills may have been sent over from UK, but I think these were altered here for our market.
  • Copied this from imdb r.e. original title.

    (original title)The Wife's Family
    AustraliaMy Wife's Family
Canada (English title) (alternative title)My Wife's Family
    Ireland (English title)My Wife's Family
    ItalyLa famiglia di mia moglie
    UK (alternative title)My Wife's Family

  • Let's Love Aussie slide with BIP & Feature Exchange logos.

What you have to say all sounds o.k .

Posters are incredibly hard to locate, but I found this rare BIP credited poster of unknown origins with the My Wife's Family title appearing on it.
