Damn … this poster photography thing is no joke

Wow. If you take photographing these very cool, very old movie posters seriously, it’s no child’s birthday party. I’m starting to see the limits. I’ve just ordered a new lens (Canon EF-M 28mm F3.5 Macro IS STM) and a B+W Clear Filter MRC nano MASTER 43 mm. I’m aiming for nothing less than perfection—within the limits of what I can realistically do, of course. Everything here is new territory for me. I’m sure I’ll make plenty of mistakes along the way, but I’m counting on the community. 😉

I even bought a damn laser level so the posters are perfectly straight. I guess that makes me crazy. But then again, so are all of you. 😄 Work in Progress.

Thanks, Bruce. That honors and motivates me. I'm still having issues because the whiteboard isn't flat against the wall. For some reasons I can't comprehend, my wife refuses to approve a permanently mounted whiteboard on the wall in the living room, which is now my photo studio.

This leads to distortions, since I never quite manage to align it exactly parallel. You can correct it in Adobe Lightroom, but that's not the point.

I've also picked up a macro lens (Canon EF-M 28mm F3.5 Macro IS STM), because the normal standard lens messes up the posters toward the sides. And the polarizing filter I ordered is, of course, the wrong one. But without it, it won't work. The reflections are pretty bad in spots. It should arrive tomorrow.

But I'll get it sorted out, and once everything's in place and I've learned the workflows, it'll move along at a decent pace.

(Photo was just an experiment with the Macro Lens)
