Butterfield 8

On the Half Sheet of Butterfield 8 it appears that Liz Taylor's dress is blue on one HS and white in another? Was this intentional? Which one came first? I am assuming that they were all produced by the same manufacturer? The white dress seems to only appear on the OS. It doesn't appear that the blue or white commands a greater price? Wondering how this happened. Any thoughts...info?...

Are you worried about the top one?
  • So the one sheet is a white sheet and the 1/2 sht is a slip-but why would one be printed with blue slip & the other with a white one? Yeah, the top one appears to be white, just curious how this happened...thanks for the images...
  • I was just typing this...

Well since I am colorblind I asked my seven year old and she is telling they are all shades of blue.  However, I would think that the ones with the sheet should be white.
  • Maybe the blue is suppose to represent the sheen on the slip and the sheet....  Else, blue got low when they printed that one or visa versa...
  • The slip looks white in the movie clips...
  • Here it is blue again...

It could be age/fading...it's the old Vertigo color controversy...is it originally red that has faded? Or orange?...Butterfield poster is up on EMP and I was searching past prices for the half sheet & saw the color variation. ....after looking at the two HS's the "lighter" color was likely blue as the whole poster looks faded in other lines, compared to the darker blue and stronger colors on rest of poster of the other one.
  • My wife and I have concluded that the artist used blue to attempt to get that sheen/silver look.  Else who the heck knows.  Both the slip and the sheet are white in the film.
  • Certainly looks that way...is that a paper banner? The blue stands out on the yellow background. Nice!
  • Yeah one of my prized gems!
  • Not sure exactly what size it is but its got a nice clean look to it. Btw-the Aussies & Belgians give the slip a somewhat pink color!
