I'm Back(ed) Baby

You think you've seen that poster before, yet it looks better...because it's been to the body shop to be repaired. image

    Nice!

Yours? Them there are Bruce's magnets...
  • Very nice, Matt. Who did the resto? Seamless work! :)>-

Sure it's the same one? Nine years ago since that damaged one was sold...

  • Looks the same to me. Definite discolouration from the top of the Eifel tower to the hip and back to the border. Top fold line to the right of the hip looks like there was tape/repair as well.

ohhh yeah, I see it now.

    Good eyes Sherlock.
  • Is Very Good condition fair then?
  • Good point, a fair chunk of the poster was missing including the left hand side. The only positive note of sorts is that it is mostly the black area.
  • I agree, the missing part is insignificant in terms of the level of restoration, it's not like it's an entire one third of the poster that was restored. Also, and on a positive for informing buyers/collectors, usually Bruce includes a grade and condition report of the poster prior to restoration, eg.

"... The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines. Overall, the poster was in XXX condition prior to linenbacking..."

So one would assume we will know for sure when the item is fully listed
  • I might have to have a go at this one, unless Matias can dig one up:

  • Here's one in my 'to be backed' pile. Similar but less area to be restored.

That's a burn hole btw. How on earth did that happen I wonder???

And good to see an accurate grading prior to restoration. Bruce and the EMP are great! Note the grading change from Very Good to Good to Very Good. Not sure if as a result of this thread or perhaps the preview grading is draft and then prior to auction listing "final engine check" ?

good to very good. The poster had a large area of paper loss in the middle left in an oval shape. It was mostly in the black background area, but it affected the top 1" of the "Effiel Tower" and a tiny bit of the side of Russell's leg. Otherwise, the poster had creases and some tiny tears in the top foldline and minor wear around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and the missing area was re-created well, but you can see slight signs of the restoration of the above defects.

With more and more people joining, this is THE forum for Aussie paper and knowledgeable collectors of same - not much slips by us - your name can become mud real fast if you try to do a shufty; but I think it's fair to say even if he doesn't do everything as some of us would like, one could not call Bruce dishonest.
