Gaming has come a long way

edited April 2015 in Everything Random!
Just finished watching the trailer for the next installment of Mortal Combat, holy crap things have come a long way since I played Ping-Pong on my neighbour's TV all those decades ago - yes, I just realised I have been gaming for almost 50 years! OMG I feel old! I still game today to relax but not FPS anymore, my last was America's Army which was a lot of fun (online game actually developed by the US Army), now I just play Trackmania against the rest of the world :)

You have seen tapes cartridges disks and all....favourite console & game of all time ?
  • Oh geez....I had a TRS-80, actually I had something before that, from my god father, who was a programmer in the 70's. Had some games on small cassettes.....shit bringing back memories now!

  • Damm Matt I thought I'd seen the prehistoric days owning a Commodore 64, but a TRS-80 what the hell is that??!!!
  • lol. You are showing your age my friend. We had Commodore 64's in the library at school.

TRS-80 was sold by Tandy Electronics at the time. A couple of years before the C64.

Most consoles were pricey at the time...imagine if we'd asked our parents to spend that money on vintage posters!

  • Man I remember when Mortal Kombat hit the arcade...  I'd get it for the PS4 but I don't think it age appropriate for my 7 year old.

  • Commodore 64 - the Vic20 was before that (also Commodore)...had one of those too.

I remember gaming in the pub in the 70s on the table top Space Invaders - we all learnt how to increase the score by hitting the big ship which would come out after 22 shots, then 14, 14 14...

We wouldn't spend much, I think each game was 10c and we were single, always broke, in a pub and had to decide spending money on gaming vs beer...
