HA POSTERS: DO YOU GET ANY ''EXTRA PIECES OF PAPER'' WITH HA OR AM I A LUCKY GIRL

edited May 2015 in Various Thoughts
OK, this is what happened more than a couple of times with HA. Not saying it is often, but it has happened often enough.

HA posters, sometimes arrived exactly as described and posted on their website BUT with an extra piece of paper that belongs to the poster which is often described in their description as 'trimmed borders'' or 'missing paper'' . Well, it is not entirely missing if they can then send it over to you.. no? That piece is never included in their description. I would have thought that it would help to sell the poster if you post an image of what you are selling (ALL OF IT).

It happened to me recently with the the IHON  JC, as you can see below, it has some extra paper on top. That it is part of the missing top (with some holes in it)... By the way, Charlie, if you read this - others welcome to comment too if the want - should I attempt to restore them (i would have thought not.. but .. thoughts?)

Anyway, it is more the bit of paper extras that I am getting  what has got me thinking - has this happened to you.. is it normal?  or am I just lucky that I get these ''extras''?

HA should really be more careful with their description.

  • That is so odd.  I certainly agree that from a buyer's standpoint knowing the missing paper is actually still extant and being offered (even if separated from the actual poster) would go a long way towards me actually bidding!  Don't know why HA would not state this?  A nice surprise for sure

Always better to try to use original elements in a restoration if possible (in my opinion)...

  • Thanks Chris. Yes. I was surprised too. Hence this post. Not sure if this is just normal HA practice... :-$
  • HA are good at abnormal practices....
  • HA's descriptions can sometimes be lacking in 'completeness' - I bought a poster once that was described as 'some tape on verso' - the pronoun 'some' was a little less than accurate - there was an entire herd of tape grazing on the back of the poster!

I think if you were to mount it and have the extra showing as a separate piece it would look great and be an added talking point too
  • Did you write back to them David? And thanks for giving me such a good tip! :)>-
  • Little point in writing back, nothing ever happens.
  •  Yes, you are probably right.

I noticed that HA are adding a note saying that the IHON Jumbo Cards for auction this week have an extra piece of paper. I have got the impression that someone must have told them to do so. Not me.
  • I saw that LC up last night & thought of that-didn't read the description...assumed they wouldn't have mentioned it...good they did! :D
  • Agreed!! :)
  • And all is right in the world!
