edited July 2015 in Trivia and Games

I have borrowed this image from Ves and I cannot let a great opportunity pass by .I have worked out 50% of the films and stars and will work on the others.Perhaps my previousr Quiz's were a little older in content for some members but come on a 1970s and some 1980s quiz should be right up everyones alley.

Murder By Decree ( 1979 ) correct. Image of Christopher Plummer, James Mason & Donald Sutherland.

Capricorn one ( 1977 )  correct. Image of reflection in spacesuit helmet on top of James Brolin and Brenda Vaccaro.

    Sorry none of the others

  • All the Presidents Men
    The Voyage

I glanced and saw Tippi Hedren, I looked closer and see Lee Remick - The Omen

Missed the images at the top

    The Wild Geese

The Wild Geese ( 1978 ) is correct with image of Richard Harris and Richard Burton.

The first two are incorrect and the image is of Lee Remick  but from the wrong film.
  • Any chance Ves getting a close up image of the action scenes on the bottom of the stock Filmways poster, between Marilyn and Sophia?
  • Three Musketeers...no need to look. ;)
  • I don't believe so. Show me the  proof. Ves, David, anyone a nice clear image of the scene in the middle of the bottom of the poster please?
  • A clue - the man running on the right hand side of the poster is missing the image of a woman he is running hand in hand with.
  • Niven is from Rough Cut...

Sorry been out all day today...give me a few minutes and I will be back with some nice close ups!

I know what this one is too...one of my favourite films...you guys are close, but not the 3 musketeers
  • Robert Redford image...The Candidate?
  • Thanks Ves whenever is convenient for you.I have worked out all the answers from the middle to top part of the poster but the woman under the running man across to an image of what looks like MM and down to the bottom of the poster closeups would be appreciated as a few there are giving me a few problems.

Sorry not Rough Cut. This image may present a problem as it is just an image of David Niven looking like dozens of other David Niven photos.I have worked out the answer but to say anymore will give it away. From one of his lesser known films.

    .

  • Thanks Ves for all your time and effort. You did more than I asked for and is very appreciated. One significant thing is that the person I thought was a woman under the running man image turns out to be a man. The period film images are a lot better but still a puzzle.

Sorry  the film the image of David Niven is from  is earlier than Rough Cut. He must have had some work done on his face,

Sorry not Robert Redford in The Candidate.

  • Gosh, earlier than Rough Cut...hmmm...

Monroe looks like she's wearing her number from Some Like It Hot...

See told you I was terrible at quizzes...only one I know is the bottom image, and that's because I own the poster...sheesh!

  • Oh! Redford in "The Way We Were!" .... [-O<
  • Well I was confused with the hot blonde, I really thought it was Bardot but couldn't think of any sking film she would have been in, but now she is larger I can see it is Britt Ekland from Ultimate Thrill

The running man is Gene Hackman, The Domino Principle

Robert Redford, Barefoot in the Park

    Not Some Like It Hot.

If you are referring to the action period images on the bottom please share as this is a real mt\ystery to me.My guess is from a foreign film possibly Italian of French. A look at the original poster would be great.

  • Oh! Redford in "The Way We Were!" .... [-O<

    Sorry not this one.

  • Reford has already been answered

Yes the great enlarged images make a difference.

The Ultimate Thrill ( 1974 ) with Britt Ekland is correct.

Gene Hackman in The Domino Principle ( 1977 ) is also correct.

Sorry Robert Redford in Barefoot In The Park is incorrect.

    Nooooo.

That was my best guess...so I am sticking to it.

''What we've got here is  failure to communicate". I'm sorry if I didn't possibly explain myself properly at the beginning of this thread. The thread is called '' Great Mainly 1970s Filmways Quiz'' and the daybill poster we are looking at has Filmways Presents on it. All the images on the daybill poster should have been copied from film material bearing the following or similar Filmways logo.

    image

I have found all the images less four were taken from films distributed in Australia by Filmways. One of the four I am hoping Ves will post an image of and it will be Filmways as well.

This leaves only three images of three stars that present a real problem as answers I am receiving are probably correct but they are from Paramount and 20th Century Fox films not Fiilmways. Possibly the three images appeared in a documentary or two that Filmways released in Australia but to this point I have been unable to confirm this.I really don't know the answer to this mystery but I will continue to work on it.

In the meantime there are still four more  Filmway released images  there to solve.

  • Robert Redford, Barefoot In The Park (1967) distributed by Paramount Pictures

    point David

Yes see, here is the issue...the images I think I know look nothing like what is on the daybills, OR they were not filmways release daybills...scratches head!

Yes you are correct in stating where the image originated from but why is a Paramount released film image appearing on a Filmways poster? Another point if you can explain this
