Anyone like to offer an opinion as to why the censor's RKO badge is not there? In fact it is there but was never printed in the area, so the fast answer is that it's a NZ daybill - is it the right answer?
I'm not John and I just had to erase my answer to the original question posed by David that I was about to send after reading the question along with John's now deleted reply.
In answer to the amended question the daybill was released in New Zealand by RKO also so seeing the censorship rating is on the poster as far as I am concerned it is an original Australian re-release poster as I believe is what John had mentioned.
John said also from memory now that he didn't have an answer and that applies to me also. Very odd indeed as an earlier similar daybill of this exact design was sold previously by Bruce and the RKO logo was also removed from that item as well.
I agree with Lawrence in that I think it is an Australian poster for Australian release with the RKO logo removed. This would not indicate anything to do with an NZ release. There is probably some reason why the RKO logo was removed at time of printing but it is a mystery at the moment.
Yes you were otherwise your comment would have made no sense whatsoever once I had edited my post (that said, making sense, hmmm), I did mention it and invite you to repost but Lawrence jumped

Yes I had figured it was not a NZ daybill, I just threw it out there to see if I could catch an answer. I postulated elsewhere (not in this forum) and I quote "The wildest theory I ever came up
with is the blanked out RKO is part of a pirate (re)release not
sanctioned by RKO."
My question is why remove the RKO logo yet leave the printed ''Distributed By RKO Radio Pictures A'Sia Pty.Ltd. wording on the bottom of the poster when this could have been removed very easily as well ?
It also could have been from a re-release not sanctioned by Disney USA (RKO Australia were known to do there own thing and there's plenty of Disney re-releases in Australia scattered throughout the years). RKO simply removed their logo from the poster, it wouldn't worry them as they still get an income from the picture playing at theatres. Easy enough to find all the releases in Australia for the movie, still wouldn't prove that this poster was part of latter ones.
Like I say, one could speculate all day and come up with a sound theory.
Yes, its a pity we probably wont ever know the answer. Maybe the artist just made an error with the RKO logo - possibly put 4 stars in it by mistake!!
I like that one as it sounds a possibility.
Thinking now maybe not. Just looked at the same poster design with the RKO logo and it is without the 4 stars ... but is it possible the original was printed incorrectly with 4 stars on it and was amended with its removal with the whiteout section and a second daybill with the non 4 star logo was printed later to replace it ?

Yes a good question when the poster exists with the RKO logo printed on it...

(John your comment made no sense since I edited my own comment - perhaps you could re-state)

Bet he didn't do that again
