David's Collection

edited March 2014 in Your Collection
Very few people have seen my entire collection, not even my wife (should that be 'specially my wife'?  :-/), to be honest I probably can't remember everything I have either! So maybe this is as good a time to see what I have got.

I tend to get a bit weird and go all completist on some titles/genres etc (but that's normal right?), and showing off an uncompleted collection may be bad luck, but here goes...

My Falcon One Sheet movie poster collection series, to date:

(some have been restored by Dario and yeah, I played with Photoshop to 'slot' it into the background)

  • Nice! My daughter's softball team is the Falcons. I'll have to show her - she will get excited.
  • Thanks Charlie - a few more to go...
  • Nice group of Falcon posters. I have all but the Falcon in Mexico. In addition I have the Falcon's Brother. Did you buy your posters linen backed or have them done later. Do you collect other detective mystery crime and film noir posters? I have a fairly extensive collection myself.

Thanks, some were linen, some were restored and some are au naturel.

I don't collect film noir per se, I do have a few (non Falcon) but entirely based on design rather than genre to be honest. I saw one of the movies a long time ago and I was fascinated by it, it was very cool in a B grade sort of way, then a poster came up, a light went on and I got hooked. If and when I get the set of Falcons I may follow up with the Saint.

Be very keen to see your collection if you've a mind to share it..open up your own thread.

  • Holmes, hmmm tempting.

  • you still need the Falcon Takes Over, which just happens to be a poster in my collection, because you see, it is the first adaptation of a Raymond Chandler novel, which is of course my main poster collection

    I have several pieces inc the 1sh & 3sh.

finding lobby cards on the title or the hs style I don't have has been a very difficult task....
  • Yeah there's five I need, one came up recently on HA but I took a pass, it had been trimmed to the borders...another train will be along in a while

    Well that's the plan.
  • Staff meaning Bella?
  • No she still works - but there's about 30 humans that will enjoy the break however...

In the future when the world is running low on words you will be glad I was here to show you how to properly conserve them.

I have three scrapbooks that were put together by a fan in the (presumably) 1930s, they are jammed packed with mainly clippings from magazines; there is also a booklet which was a free supplement to the latest issue of FILM PICTORIAL (in 1933), a 1933 souvenir from Queen Christina and there is probably a dozen or so original publicity stills. The whole thing is very cool, I often forget I have them and I'll probably trade them all one day for one nice Garbo piece that I can actually display so I can look at it regularly because at the moment these are all just in my bookcase in my office, rarely seen

Anyway, I scanned a few items for your viewing pleasure...
