October 1961 St James Sydney re-release and probably shown exclusively for at least the end of that year. The general release seems to have taken place in 1962 in the suburbs and the country. Great work David. Still wondering the reason for the shirt and shirtless images ?

David certainly has a knack !!!...hey David how do u access all this information? Some type of electronic archive subscription? The info is pure. gold.. if u can't reveal I understand
Trove plus others, I have a few subscriptions here and there. Also have been a amateur genealogist for some 20 years so knowing how to look is part of it, the first answer is often the lead-in to the real question and then it really is about the cross checks.
Also, I read what others have been saying, there's a lot a lot of smart and knowledgeable people here with lots of info, it's why sharing in a forum really helps solve these things. I mean how cool was it to discover an R61 and a R62 GWTW Daybill today? Not one of us could have done it alone.
Now you know, and now I am going to have to kill you...
It was genuinely fun to watch the mystery progressively solved..awesome display of this forums firepower!
Kill me... :-O I'm a father to old printed movie paper though..
Huh? We're all dead or just a couple of people?....But I just got my Tax return back.. I want to spend that money on posters....ohhh fark it, I want to buried in a glass coffin......with cheese burgers stuffed in my ears......
Still wondering the reason for the shirt and shirtless images ?

I'll have a long shot stab at it...Looks like between 1961 and 1962 there was a crackdown on what was considered a "mature theme"...So 1962 daybill was produced for a more a conservative industry ?

Just thought I would post this advertisement from the 1955 re-release in Australia stating ''For the First Time In Australia Metroscope with Perspecta Sterophonic Sound". First widescreen attempt for GWTW preceeding the 1967 70 mm release by 12 years.
I just love finding these sort of advertisements. Not just for authentication purposes but also because some are quite peculiar and really fun to read. Love the line here "starts sharp" ..yes...bet it did!
If i may say so..this is a great thread. Thanks for sharing.
Wonder what your thoughts are on the Pre-war daybill. I actually like it a lot, largely because It has the book, which i confess i enjoyed immensely too.

One of the best looking daybills I've seen in person!
In looking at the kind of shapeless body form given to Gable here, what was the artist thinking, I wonder? The movie, Altered States with William Hurt, was decades away from being made. Look at his right side and arm.
In one way, it looks like it may be folded in front of his chest, and then we see a hand under Leigh's knees, from an arm that would be no more than two feet long at best. No wonder Scarlett fainted.

Quite amazing a cast member from Robin Hood, Gone with the Wind is alive!
I nearly went for it years ago at an auction. It was being sold at a reasonable price. I've regretted ever since I didn't go for it.

(Here's an Altered State image comparison).
