And some people just think they are clever to out an auction....  look at me, look what I've found...  Ye, we've been watching it for weeks gob-shite.

Uh huh - THIS is the main problem
  • Dunno why the vote, all they had to do is look at the voting on this, the World's Number #1 Forum and applied it to their forum, after all it hasn't taken us 4 years to work it out...
  • I miss the APF.....then again I don't have a bruise on my forehead anymore.
  • I do hope all you guys have gone over and voted No....as I looked and it's a close call.
  • That's because I'm no longer a member there.

If I was there, things would be different.

  • Well???

  • Maybe not...
  • I fucked up and voted No...   >:P

I thought it was talking about outing auctions, when it is just talking about locking the thread.  Tricky way of setting up the question.  It is actually reverse to what the topic is.

Do you want to allow outing?

Do you want to lock the thread where outing occurs?

Sorry Paul...  I'd jump in there and as for it to be reversed but I am not suppose to be participating anymore, right.  Loyalty and all.  I just stick to the Resto threads.

  • No biggy... ya Twat...  ;)

In all seriousness (que the old age thing) When I started collecting, I was picking up posters here and there, and it was a good haul being able to get 4, or 6 in a year; But I was only paying £2-£5, a poster. As advertising in some film mags took off, prices began to rise a small amount, but by the time of Ebay they went through the roof.
The Moral here being, the more who know, the more it costs, it's bad enough competing against collectors who do search a lot, but to have the extra competition from the lazy brigade only pushes up the price more.
Some may not like this, but having a great collection does not take any special talent other than having lots of spare money, so people with the most to spend will always win an auction. It's for the talentless, but rich.  And I've said it many times, you can see them trying to make a name for themselves in this hobby, by rushing to put a first rate collection together, and us poor folk are supposed to say what a jollyfine fellow, he has a great collection....Not me, sorry, I'm in it for the true collectors and film fans..
  • Mr Waines. =D>

  • Charlie, I'd demand a recount. From the responses in the thread, people are not happy with outing!

  • Well, I just messed up and read it wrong.  I am not sure it can be switched...
  • I wouldn't worry too much anyway. :-??
  • Well if people are unhappy with the vote they can come here...
  • I do notice all the ones who chose to vote for outing are the big money collectors...

Us poor people all voted No outing.
    ;)

That is indeed the main problem... Said it already and will do again. Outing is just bad etiquette, and that's something known by true gentlemen -like the ones present here
    ;)-

You kinda know what other folks collect. Why the fuck don't you send them a PM if you see something they might like? I know I've had some great bargains on ebay and helped fellow collectors get some bargains also... No need to be the clever boy here....

As I have a bottom of the barrel budget -and taste- there was never an outed auction that made me pay more, but it bothers me anyway

Mates don't out Auctions, you're spot on Matais. Yep you send a PM/email, hopefully they get lucky and save some bucks. It's a simple as that.
  • I concur, bite a fellow collector in the ass and you will find out how good his memory really is...

  • Matias speaks truths.  Preach on Argentinean Jesus
  • I think there maybe some truth to this Argentinean Jebus, as Matias not only has saved me a fortune  by not outing an auction he emailed me, but presented me with the opportunity of buying one of the best posters in my collection...

Thanks Matias, a true friend and Gent.
  • Hear, Hear!  Wish I could return the favor, but I hardly come across his type of stuff...
