  • I actually don't have  clue for 249, but 248 is Interstellar (2014). One of my favourite films of all time.

Correct, so an easy one for you. I must endeavour to seek it out as I have never viewed it. Sounds like that I have missed out on seeing an excellent film. There are very high ratings for it on both IMDb and Rotten tomatoes.

  • As the poster says - Experience it in IMAX. One of the best IMAX experiences you can have. Turns up regularly there (proper IMAX though, not the newer IMAX screens popping up everywhere. They're not the full IMAX screen height.)

    Peter
  • Another clue for 249 in hand.
  • Seems like only Peter and I are playing lately.

    Anyway... Interstellar

Yes this is the case. I am hoping soon to see the return of Bruce, Ves and Rick again participating here.
  • I was just thinking about this. In my case it is that you seem to have moved more to 1970s on movies, which I am just not very familiar with at all.

Thanks then Bruce for your reason for not contributing here in recent times. More entries from the 1950's and 1960's (little product produce before then) will be presented here in the future, starting with the next up two. By the way the yet unanswered 249 is from the 1950s.
  • To finish it off, I guess 249 is Five from 1951.  Just an image search though.  Don't know the film

    I had no idea.

You got to answer it in the end though which is the main thing. I will admit that it is an obscure film.

251 is Joyzelle Joyner in that obscure 1930 sf musical Just Imagine.  I've only seen clips.
Just checked, no streaming.  Used dvds on ebay, but not cheap.  I guess I am unlikely to check it out, despite being a pre code musical

Update - found the whole film on YouTube

Very well done in identifying this obscure film released in 1930. The film was set in 1980.

  • A clue for 250 is angel.
  • Is 250 Barbarella (1968)? It has that look to it.

    Peter

It certainly is Barbarella, so well worked out.  John Phillip Law appears below seen playing the roll of Pygar a blind angel.

  • 252 253
For sci-fi lovers how about these two film images then?
  • Is 252 Things To Come (1936)? It's quaint seeing how the future was imagined in these old films.

You are correct. Yes it is indeed interesting to view these vintage films today and to see how they guessed what the future world would look like.

  • I had an idea for 253 too, but I couldn't find the image. I'm assuming i's similar vintage...or earlier.

    A clue for 253 is 1940

An additional image for 253 to hopefully assist in one being able to identify this obscure film.
  • I know nothing about this film, but searches easily point to High Treason from 1929.
An  interesting tidbit is that the film was released in silent and sound format, but the future portrayed was 1950 for the silent version and 1940 for the talkie.

Never heard of it either, but sounds interesting, the sort of stuff I could easily watch.

The New York Times wrote, "this story is really such a farrago of nonsense that one is sorry Maurice Elvey could not find better material to his expert hand"

Correct answer for 253. High Treason is a British film. Love the car image appearing below. An interesting choice I am thinking for a science fiction film.
