  • Yikes! That's a bit chilly! I'm gonna be throwing some meat on the grill in a couple of hours to celebrate...that and few frosty ones as well! Wish I could give you some of our temps, it's gonna be about 38 C here in AZ.
  • 2ºC here to start warming up to 17ºC, 6:30am bike ride delayed until slightly warmer...

    Happy 4th of July USA!

Hope it's a lot warmer over there because it's freezing here. 8ºC all day.
That's like a middle of summer temperature for us. We'd be skinny dipping in no time

Somethings are best left unsaid Chris :P

We just passed Winter Solstice, which can only mean one thing - summer is on its way!

Still takes disicpline to ride in that cold! I bought ski gloves and thermals for those mornings as an extra layer
  • Not riding in that cold! Riding later, when sun is out - maybe 12-15ºC

    You ride too Sven?

Nice Sven! I'm struggling to find time to get my 2-4 miles running in every other day! I would imagine that triathlete training/exercise is grueling. All the best in the cold weather guys! We'll be warm here till late Sept. ...As for that skinny dipping comment...wait till darkness falls... ;)

Triathlete? Well done. I hate running, and now as I have quite a few years behind me my knees have concurred and so I don't. I only ever swam in Port Phillip after a ride, in summer...actually less swim more a soak. Respect to anyone who can do those three disciplines in one day.

Although I ride year round (generally 3 times a week) my Round the Bay 12 week countdown training schedule kicks off next week, have to up it to 5 days a week.

"Ex" triathlete I did say! I have not competed for 12 years. I was into it in my early 20's, then got into weight training for a few years, got injured, tried to get back into triathlon but the little injuries (back, knee) kept me from getting back to where I was. Like you need to save the knees! So no running for me now, just swimming, riding, walking and core strength. The main thing I take from my days of  Triathlon was how mental preparation was key - if you wanted to lead the swim, for example, you had to plan it accordingly then visualise (and continually repeat in your mind) yourself doing so. And those last km's on the run, when you're body said no more, your mind says actually yes, and that made the difference.

It was tough! Trying to be really good at all three, meant morning and evening sessions and brick sessions (swim/ride or ride/run). Ride/Run was always tough trying to shake the jelly out of your legs, so you'd Ride/Run/Ride/Run/Ride/Run to conquer it , shorter distance in that session of course. Late September, ahhhhh sounds wonderful!

Wait 'till you get to my age, then, like your body your mind is mush too and only two things happen when you try to use visualisation to help your train

    1. you start to visualise the beers at the end more than the ride itself
    2. you doze off

  • Yes... Happy 4th of July!!!'
  • I did a test ride on my bike to the next job (same company) that will start  in 4 weeks time. Unfit and gasping for air at the end, it took me 15 minutes.

Current job is the  http://www.vcccproject.vic.gov.au/ which costs $150 a week in petrol, parking and tolls.

Next job is  http://newchildrenshospital.org/the-hospital/project-scope.html $0 a healthier me and most importantly, better care for our kids.

15 minutes to go 4.3km, not too bad for an unfit basturd, a couple of months of that and you'll be able to join me on my Round the Bay ride.

    Next step Lyrca!
  • Thanks Sven and Mark. As for the bay ride....not a hope in hell, same goes with the lyrca.. I'm riding to a construction job, lyrca doesn't come into the equation.  X_X
  • "Cold weather" =))
  • Can we post something for sale on here, if so where?
  • Thanks Matt, your a Star.
  • So you know what I hate....when you miss a couple days of checking email and a bill sneaks in there, and then you don't see it, so you don't pay it, and then you are LATE!  Did I mention I hate that!
  • Following up on what Ves shared....I have two three months of unopened physical mail piled up on the dining room table.

    I wrote physical mail.  B)

  • Much better than a physical male on your table
  • In my case yes but I assume that that is not true for all.
