  • I’m always looking. I have certain threads pinned so I get an email notification when a new post comes in. I like seeing the pics, I would also like to see pics of in between too, like the repairing process, etc.
  • Banner that I just restored for Morris Everett.

  • Would you please inform me of the exact size of the Ben Hur poster?
  • 18 x 36
  • O.k. i am going somewhere with this, My next question is what material is the poster made of?
  • Paper
  •  As you mentioned the poster to be a banner and banners are usually made of vinyl, mash or fabric, this is the reason for my questions. I will cover this poster design in detail in the future, Do you have any information regarding the origins of the poster?
  • No other information. Should be in press book? Wonder what they called it?
  • Thanks, As I mentioned I do intend follow up regarding this poster size shortly.
  • Banners in us are cardstock?

Is this the size of the original poster only, or is it for the restored finished product with the backing.?
  • 14-3/4” x 39-3/4”
  • These mostly had heavy fold lines, and some tape on back.

Sorry to query this but the height this time you provided is down 3-1/4 '', from your last size, but the length has increased by 3-3/4''

    Lovely looking posters above.
  • I actually measured at the store today.
  • Thank you and very interesting.
  • More to comment on the Ben Hur posters shortly.
  • There is a very detailed discussion that took place on Hondo's This And That thread during Novemver 2021 regarding this sized Ben Hur poster that can be checked out.
  • Very interesting information, I am glad I was able to restore back to its original condition.
  • This poster has not been up for auction in the past, very rare. It was full of wrinkles, and paper loss. I won it at a very reasonable price and restored. This was a difficult restoration.

  • A question, what do restorers use to fill in small paper loss, like large pin holes, or tears along fold lines with small paper loss? It is too small for a paper fill. Are there compounds out in the art word to fill in small holes that are acid free? Any advice would help.
  • There are archival fills but they are acrylic based.

I despise even showing this to the world.

  • Did you ever use the methyl cellulose for this type of fill?
  • Yes. Methyl and calcium carbonate or cellulose powder.
  • Today’s restoration project. This poster had heavy toning, start of pay per view tv.
And a first James Bond poster.
