Good job by Rick.
One thing I've noticed about dated posters is that they rarely align with the actual release. Often they're from years later, which is an indication of how the industry operated in this country. -
I'm wondering if that is an Aussie slide. Perhaps Duane can let us know the measurements.
-
Probably have about 10 - 15 slides with the abbreviated ratings. Below is one I'm selling, so the pic is easy for me to access. Not unusual to find slides with no rating at all. Back in the day they were all single screen cinemas, or perhaps the odd…

Good stuff, Duane!
Interesting 'S' certificate on Mary Poppins. I have never seen that. -
Exploitation collectors will know the X rated daybill. They printed two versions, one R, other X. I have both of them here.
Cinderella is Aussie slide. I know where it came from, and anyone can confirm that just by looking at the two censorship… -
I know of one X rated Aussie poster, although it is listed as R18+ on classification.gov. I wonder who can name it?
At first I thought Cinderella was NZ, but I've since changed my mind. -
Ves has that blacked out slide. Example of (G).

Although they were advertising abbreviated ratings, you don't see many slides using them. Most just have the regular triangle / circle as per posters. I do have some from the 1950s with (G) / (A).

I have some with vintage Disney characters, probably 1950s.
Not sure if this is on the missing list, but I couldn't find another image. Watched the film on Tubi. B crime - 6/10.
Interesting variation on the rating.in What Happened To The Australian Daybills? Comment by Mark June 2023
Some kind of basic stencil work on these Aussie 40 x 60s. Have more.

Be nice to have a youtube tutorial showing a poster being printed offset. For Mad Max completists, there are two printings of the Aussie press sheet. As far as I can determine, the image on right came first. They are identical on the opposite side.in Mad Max Aussie lobby cards Comment by Mark June 2023
Silver anniversary is 25 years. I think they hand-coloured those old emulsion slides. From 1970s on they were printed on celluloid, in colour. See NFSA site: http…You think they would add a bit more colour!
An interesting topic. I think all collectors & dealers would benefit from a better understanding of the printing methods used.I only have basic printing knowledge. Some people advertise their posters as stone litho, which is a time-consuming process and not suitable for printing thousands of copies. I believe that was only used pre 1930.I'm sure the NZ poster was done by the same printer. They have added the stamp, so most likely printed in Australia.
Interesting to see an Aussie screen print. The ink is flaking off around the folds, and you don't see that on litho posters.I can't beat Dial M, but I did find this.
30 x 40, apparently silk screen print. Has anyone seen another?

Rare Aussie 007
I have done some research, and apparently the Aston Martin pictured is publicity car #1, owned by Eon Productions. No idea if Aston Martin cars were even available in Australia at that time. Seems odd that a tractor company would try and leverage of…Here is another research project you might like to undertake. Could be a challenge, as no-one I've contacted has ever seen this poster before.

For anyone interested in old films, Tubi has a great range of classics available. Many silents including Metropolis, Chaplin, Chaney, Clara Bow, Buster Keaton etc. If you want to see a good silent, Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde with John Barrymore is a be…Thanks for that info. I am surprised they went with a one sheet for the RR, especially on a double bill.
I haven't seen many Burton posters printed before late 1950s.
Here is a nice daybill. Couldn't find any other images online.
I'm guessing this is from the first Aussie release, sometime in the 1960s. They seemed to prefer yellow in that decade.

Thanks!
Here are some better pics. Appears to be silk screen, printed on cloth / linen. Two lengths joined with a seam. 2.5ft tall, 16.7ft long. May have been cut by approx 1ft on right. Has written on back in pencil: Town Hall 17' 6". Possibly…
